What is Zoho CRM?

Zoho CRM stores a company’s leads, contacts, accounts and deals and records the emails, calls, meetings and notes connected to each one. Sales teams move deals through pipeline stages, divide customers into territories, forecast revenue and follow up through scheduled cadences of emails, calls and tasks. The CRM brings in conversations from email, phone systems, live chat and social media so that representatives can see a customer’s history in one place, and mobile apps give field sales staff the same information on the road.

Zoho CRM can be reshaped extensively without code. Administrators add custom modules and fields, lay out a sales or service process step by step with Blueprint, redesign record pages in the Canvas design studio and use CommandCenter to automate processes that span several teams. Developers go further with Deluge, Zoho’s own scripting language, client scripts and APIs. The CRM connects to other Zoho apps such as Zoho Books, Zoho Desk and Zoho Campaigns, as well as to third-party tools, and it is included in Zoho One.

Zia, Zoho’s AI assistant, has been part of the product since 2017, when it began detecting anomalies in sales activity and suggesting the best time to contact prospects. Zoho has since added predictions, natural-language questions and, in 2025, Zia agents that carry out multistep tasks, and it announced its own Zia large language models that year as an alternative to sending data to outside AI providers. A redesign called CRM for Everyone opened the product to marketing, support and other teams. Zoho says more than 300,000 businesses use Zoho CRM, which competes with Salesforce and HubSpot Smart CRM, and it also sells Bigin, a simpler CRM for very small businesses.

Key features of Zoho CRM

  1. 01

    Pipeline and deal management

Deals move through customizable pipeline stages, with forecasting and territory management that show managers expected revenue and where each opportunity stands.

  2. 02

    Blueprint process automation

Blueprint maps a sales or service process as a sequence of stages, controlling who acts at each step and which information must be captured before a record can move forward.

  3. 03

    Workflow rules and cadences

Rules send emails, create tasks, update fields and call webhooks when records change, and cadences schedule sequences of follow-up emails, calls and tasks for leads and contacts.

  4. 04

    Multichannel communication

Email, telephony integrations, live chat and social media connections log customer conversations on the CRM record, so representatives can review earlier interactions before they reply.

  5. 05

    Canvas design studio

Canvas lets administrators redesign record pages and list views with a drag-and-drop editor, changing how information appears to different teams without writing code.

  6. 06

    Zia AI and agents

Zia detects unusual sales activity, suggests the best time to contact prospects, predicts deal outcomes, answers questions in natural language and runs AI agents that complete routine multistep work.

  7. 07

    Customization and developer tools

Custom modules, fields and layouts, the Deluge scripting language, client scripts, APIs and marketplace extensions let companies adapt the CRM to their own data and processes.

  8. 08

    Reports and dashboards

Standard and custom reports and dashboards track pipeline, conversion rates and sales targets, and deeper cross-application analysis is available by connecting Zoho Analytics.

  • Field sales representatives log visits, check customer histories and update deals from the mobile app while traveling.

History of Zoho CRM

Zoho CRM launched in 2005, the same year as Zoho Writer, as AdventNet expanded from network management software into web applications for businesses. Zoho added its Zia AI assistant and the Blueprint process tool to the CRM in 2017, and it later introduced the Canvas design studio and CommandCenter for automating processes across teams. A redesign called CRM for Everyone extended the product beyond sales to marketing, support and other departments. In 2025 Zoho began bringing Zia agents to the CRM and announced its own Zia large language models, trained in-house to run in Zoho’s data centers in the United States, India and Europe.
