History of Notion Calendar
Notion Calendar began as Cron, a calendar startup founded by Raphael Schaad that went through Y Combinator’s winter 2020 batch. Cron raised a $3.5 million seed round in March 2020, led by Garry Tan of Initialized Capital with investors including Figma CEO Dylan Field, and in late 2021 it was offering early access to a Mac app that initially supported only Google accounts.
Notion acquired Cron on June 9, 2022, and kept the app running while the two teams worked toward a shared brand. On January 17, 2024, Notion relaunched it as Notion Calendar, a free app with direct connections to Notion databases and pages, and retired the Cron name. An Android app followed later in 2024, and support for Microsoft Outlook calendars was added in June 2026.
